Welcome to the LZH

On June 20, 1986 the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) was founded under the patronage of the German State Ministry of Trade, Industry, Technology, and Transportation in Lower Saxony. Our main task is to support applied research in laser technology on a non-profit basis. The LZH is involved in:

R&D projects in the field of laser development and laser applications
Technical and scientific consulting to link research and practice
Industry-oriented training of experts for applying and operating laser systems

Through the close cooperation between production engineers, material scientists, and physicists we find interdisciplinary solutions for all fields of laser applications.

"Green Photonics" at the LASER Fair in Munich

In many areas of modern industrial manufacturing, it is possible to use the laser for protecting resources and for improved energy efficiency. The Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) will present examples of green photonics at the LASER fair in Munich, from May 23^rd to 26^th, 2011.

Flexible, exact, inexpensive – Fiber-Laser System for optimized industrial Micro-Material Processing

Together with six industrial partners, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) has developed a picosecond laser system based on fibre lasers. This system has achieved excellent micro-machining results for brass and aluminum.

Industry has placed a long list of demands on micro-machining laser systems – the laser beam must be easy to focus, nearly non-fluctuating, and beam re-alignment should be minimised. The system must be as compact as possible, placed close to the workpiece, yet not susceptible to rough manufacturing environments.
